We have discussed LinkedIn as a way for companies to network with other contractors and lets you post URLs to your profile. Create a profile, create links to your website, etc.

What about Facebook and Twitter? today we want to discuss Facebook and how it can not only boost the optimization of your website, but also become a powerful tool to market and network in your local area. I am going to give you step by step plans on how to sign up and what to create once you have an account, but here are just a few reasons on why you should sign up today.

Customer Engagement - Using Facebook can be a great way for communicating promotions, contest and home shows, completed projects, etc.. Again it is another interception point that can be leveraged to entice consumer engagement with your services in your local area.

New Customer Acquisition - Facebook can act as a portal point for driving traffic to your site and view services that you provide.. Facebook provides an opportunity to find potential clients you may have not otherwise discovered. Also reviewing potential prospects' profiles may help you build a relationship with your prospects and aid in the lead generation qualifying process.
Branding - Facebook can be a great resource for generating brand awareness. Facebook is becoming popular amongst various age demographics and can be a create interception point for building your relationship with your clients and potential clients.
Networking. – You can communicate with other contractors via groups, much like LinkedIn.

Steps on signing up:

Make sure to complete all information as possible. Include your company logo as your Profile photo. About you should be company information, and your website should be your company website. You can also upload photos of remodeling projects, online coupons, etc.
ADD A PAGE

After you have logged in with your own Facebook account, you will see a row of links to the right of your profile. The link that you are interested is the link that says "pages". Click on that link to bring you to ADD A PAGE.

You will be taken to a page that describes exactly what a Facebook page will do for your organization, you can read it if you really want to, but it pretty much is just a pitch at how wonderful facebook is. Go ahead and click on the "+Create a Facebook Page" link that you see towards the upper right hand corner.

Each page should have a link to your website, keywords describing your services, as well as your company logo.
CREATE A GROUP

The same way you add a page, is the same way you add a group. There are two ways you can optimize and market a group. One is to simply market your company and have your clients and employees be part of the group. This is a way to communicate with your clients via the Facebook application.

The second way is to create a network of contractors in your area, i.e. Massachusetts Contractors, and create a network site of contractors and sub contractors in your local area.
WHEN YOU ARE DONE

After you have created your profile, pages and groups, do a search for your local area of groups and pages and join them. This is a good way to network with local organizations in your area.

Also, make sure to do a search for “Contractor Websites” and become a fan as we add all of our clients and their websites into this area.
